Mind Maps - the 21st Century way of note taking!

Mind maps are a creative, nonlinear way of taking notes that are brain friendly and help improve memory and comprehension. Here is a sample mind map of how to PhotoRead a book a week, giving your brain time to integrate the information and make strong connections that last for life.

For starters, color beats the heck out of black and white any day. The brain loves color and thinks in pictures, which is why images are also great to use. Also, seeing the entire map activates our visual-spatial intelligence, and the very act of creating a mind map requires the kinesthetic intelligence and assures that we are active in the learning process, not passive! Why do people forget? They're passive and not paying attention! Mind maps are awesome! Get out of the box and try it, I'm sure you will like it!

PhotoReading is a blast to teach!

PhotoReading is a blast to teach. When I took the course for the first time in 2002, I was blown away
and made a commitment to teach it to others. I now lead seminars and am the master trainer for Learning Strategies Corporation, the developer of the program.

The thing that impressed me the most is how much I learned about myself. Not about reading, but how and why it was possible to PhotoRead, and how my brain and mind work. That in itself is an interesting distinction. I also loved the course design is elegant and rich with science and interactive exercises which helped me to have a new experience of myself. Well who wouldn't want that?

PhotoReading is more than an intellectual exercise, its a whole brain, whole person immersion which connects the learner to themselves in a deeper way than taught in school.

Schools teach us about subjects whereas PhotoReading teaches us about ourselves. Once I understood that, I realized that I could learn anything faster and better. The challenge then became what to focus my attention on since I realized I had new skills and all I need to do was hone them and move to mastery.

That's what this blog is about - Mastery. We can dibble and dabble or we can make a true commitment and do the thing we say we REALLY want to do.

Join me in a conversation about YOUR amazing brain and how to use it in the way intended and have fun learning about yourself and whats possible at the same time!

Reading changed my life...and then came PhotoReading

I've loved reading since I was a little girl. I thought of authors as my friends as I felt I could hear
them talk to me and impart their wisdom, and I hung on their every word.

Once, when I was about twelve, I ran away from home. The thing I took with me? Two pillow cases full of books I couldn't do without as they were my most prized possessions. I knew where my priorities were even then. I didn't get far and soon I had to begin unload my books a few at a time in restaurants where I'd stop and hawk food, on busses and even in gas station bus stops. My first lesson in letting go of things I loved.

I first heard about PhotoReading as an adult and I knew immediately that it was something that I
needed and that it showed up in my life for all the right reasons. I first ordered the home study course and waited with baited breath for it to arrive. When it did, I began listening to what was then cassette tapes. Within five minutes of listening to the opening explanations by Dr. Paul Scheele, something in me got excited and I knew deep down inside I'd learn it and then teach the course to others.

PhotoReading has changed my life for the better, first because I can read faster and better with improved memory and comprehension, but more importantly, its opened up a new realm for me which I suspected existed, but didn't know how to access.

Isn't it kinda strange that we tend to go through the early stages of our lives almost sleep walking? And when our eyes begin to open and we get connected to the right teachers and guides, everything changes for the better? That's what happened to me when I found this work and why I'm devoted to sharing it with those of like and light minds.

If you are curious, like I was, and you are ready to discover for yourself how deep down the rabbit hole you can go and where it will lead you, then come and take the seminar. Life is a journey and with its many twists and turns, it takes us into some interesting places. With an open heart and mind, you will find yourself in the right places doing all the right things.

If you find yourself in a seminar with me, you'll experience the joy of learning like never before because you learn about more than reading, you learn about yourself and that's what you really want!

You'll be glad you did!

Power Versus Force - A Favorite Read

One of my favorite books is Power versus Force by Dr. David Hawkins. In it, I learned about the map of human consciousness which positively impacted my life as it helps me to see whats going on in the world, (and in my private world), understand it better, and stay out of judgment about it. That in itself is a huge leap in awareness, wouldn't you say?

I've given away many copies and I share the map, and I've retyped one to make it easy to share with others so that they can get into the conversation and expand their understanding as well.

I had the great pleasure of seeing Dr. Hawkins on a visit to a Unity church in Atlanta and it was quite a remarkable experience. Not only was his lecture one where we hung on every word, his energy and facilitation of the conversation just spectacular. Not a high energy motivator, but one who was deeply connected to Source and whose goal was to help all of humanity climb the scale and move up in consciousness - in other words - EVOLVE! That is the point of it all down here on the ground, aye? Me thinks so.

Hawkins has authored several books, all mind blowers. Check out his first ground breaking book here...

For anyone who seeks to understand what's happening in the world at large, and especially when horrific crimes and/or tragedies occur, this is a must read. In fact, he claims that just reading the book itself will advance you up a bit! How much is anyone's guess. Its a journey, and without doubt, we'll all get there. Some sooner than later but nevertheless!

After looking at the map of human consciousness and the various levels, tell me what you think about it. I'd love to dialogue with anyone interested. His work goes wide and deep....
